Situation :

You are done trying safe mode, system restore, system recovery and all those tricks in your bag but your computer is still messed up. Then there are 2 reasons

1. Hardware
   
   1. Dust on fan/RAM chip / Hardidsk/Motherboard (clean with Vacum cleaner)
      
   2. Some device is damaged (go to mechanic)
      
2. Virus. : (this article deals only with this part.)
   
3. PS – If you can load your XP/Vista then use following article (no need of this rescue disk)
   

All you need is a Blank CD (Or a Pen/Flash Drive) and a lil patience and some common sense. No need to waste any money on mechanic or any software. Everything I'm mention below is legit and user friendly, doesn't require a rocket scientist.

In nutshell

Kaspersky rescue disk will let you access your harddisk , scan-remove virus etc EVEN if your computer is not starting Xp/Vista etc.

Instructions

1. Download the Kaspersky rescue disk iso file from here (size 112 Mb hence it would take some time) don't worry this is no virus/spyware –I'm not so mean that I would try to damage your already damaged system. I intend to help. you can trust me.
   
2. Now you can either write this thing on a blank CD OR if you've a pen/flash drive and don't want to waste a blank CD then follow this tutorial to burn it on a pen/flash drive (then come back to read further from point 4 below.)
   
3. Once you've the iso file you'll need to burn (=write) it to CD. – wait you can't simply copy paste that one file on CD – it won't work. Iso files have to be burned differently. There are two ways
   
   1. If you've nero software installed
      
      1. Right click on downloaded ISO file : kav_rescue_2008.iso > Open with Nero > insert a Blank CD and burn/write.
         
   2. If you don't have nero
      
      1. Download install imgburn from here. (only 2 mb, freeware)
         
      2. Right click on that kav_rescue_2008.iso file you downloaded > Select "burn with Imgburn" from the context menu. Insert blank CD> burn it.
         
4. Reboot your system (or if you burned cd using your office/ friend's computer since yours is not working, then take this CD and go back to your non-working computer.)
   
5. Insert the disk- soon as you see the BIOS loading screen (like phoenix, mercury etc) press F12 key to go to Boot Device selection menu. And select your DVD / CD drive > Press Enter.
   

(in different computer this thing will look different.)

In different computer, its different button like F2, F8, Del Key so if F12 doesn't work, then power off your computer (by turning down the main switch in case of PC Or keep the powerkey on laptop keyboard pressed for a few seconds until its off.) then again start your computer and try it. It has to be done immediately when computer is loading- before the windows xp/vista loading screen comes. If you don't get the boot device selection menu then you'll need to reconfigure the order of booting from the BIOS menu (apply common sense – read your menu and make the DVD/CD drive as 1^st boot device.) – I don't have screenshots here because its different on each brand of computer BUT this thing is easy – don't worry.

1. When Kaspersky rescue disk is loading you'll see following screens- read the instructions (this is nothing geeky- apply common senses.)
   

Press enter or any key.

then it moves further

just hit enter for the first time, now if it doesn't work due to your computer being messed up with drivers or hardwares. Then reboot your computer- and when you get to this screen again- type 'Rescue-safe' & press Enter. If that still doesn't work then For more command list refer this page

Once its loaded it'll look like this

If you've some imp files / data to taken care of then goto File manager > copy it to your pen/flash drive.

Otherwise simply start scaning using the play button. If there is some crap virus , trojans, worms and other malicious software - it will scan and take care of it.

Once the scan it done- hit that Red light 'Fix it now ' button. (don't do it when the scan is going on- let the scan finish first.)

Once this is done, shut down computer, take out the CD. Reboot again normally, and your system will work Vista/XP etc again nice smooth and clean. AND for Godsake PLEASE get yourself a decent antivirus + antispyware+ Firewall (or a combined Internet Security pack if you can pay the money OR want to download via torrent/warez etc.) so you don't get your computer messed up with viruses again.

Most people generally use whatever security software came with there computer like AVG or norton or Macafee and never care to update it or see If its licence has expired etc.

And then get into this virus trouble.

If you've AVG/Avast/Avira antivirus (which is free and hence computer dealers install it) – there is problem – the problem is that it gives you protection against virus only but not the firewall or spyware.

(those software also provide full internet security suit which has all those features but its not 'free')

So when you surf internet – you're still 'not protected enough'

In that scene you've following options (free of course)

1. Get the comodo firewall.
   
2. Get Spybot Search & Destroy
   
3. Or uninstall AVG and install comodo Firewall + Antivirus + Spybot
   

If you are rich and want to 'buy' (or get the pirated copy of ) then I recommend

1. Kaspersky internet security 2010 (It has everything in it- anti:virus+spyware+spam+firewall)
   
2. Eset security (same as above)
   

Also keep this CD at safe place once the work is done- so you can use it in future / give to your buddies if their computer is messed up.

Situation :

You are done trying scanning (which our lame outdated free AVG etc Antivirus software), or safe mode, system restore, system recovery and all those tricks in your bag but your computer is still messed up. Then there are 2 reasons

1. Hardware

There are 2 situation you are facing

1. Your Xp/Vista works but due to virus your internet doesn't work well or your computer is just messed up.
   
   1. Then goto your buddy's place or cybercafe download Kaspersky Internet Security 2010 from here.

ask yourself the question 1^st why did you get the virus in your system ?

• Because you're still using the antivirus product that came with your computer (like AVG/Avira/Avast/Norton/Macafee)
  
• Chances are their licence is expired
  
• AVG etc have free antivirus - but the limitation is, you don't get protection of firewall or antispyware.
  
• You did not update the virus definitions.
  

Why Kaspersky internet security 2010?

Because its launched on 23^rd July 2009 = latest

It has built in firewall, antispyware so it'll take care of anything AND everything malicious in your system : also comes with wifi scanner so nobody messes with your wifi again.

1. Now come back to you computer. Launch the installation file "kis9.0.0.463en.exe" (or whatever name you gave to it) .
   

Once it launches – Kaspersky will do a few restarts until its done installing (since it comes with a 'self-defence' hence virus in your system can't harm it while its installing.)

Once you are done installing- hit the taskbar icon - it launches the Kaspersky window > select "Scan my Computer tab


" do a full scan , that'll take care of everything. (if it finds something it'll show red light- click on 'fix button') DONE your problem is solved!

PS. the Kaspersky internet security 2010 you are downloading is a 30 days trial pack. But don't worry- it fixes everything full proof and you are using it for free for 30 days. after 30 days it'll stop updating the virus definitions.

But what is important for you at this moment? – fix your computer right? so think later about what'll you do after 30 days.

you can register the product using the serial / license key for Kaspersky internet security 2010. (which you can purchase or torrent or warez depending on your conscience)

Ofcourse there are other freeware solutions to this but this thing is the most professional and userfriendly solution and easiest of the all options.

[Computer] Removing BIOS password of Acer laptop, without removing CMOS battery or using crack softwares

Restting BIOS Password of laptop (with out removing battery or dangerous tactics)
The trick is NOT about

1. Using some crack software from unknown makers.
2. Removing the CMOS battery by opening the laptop’s mother board.

We are going to use the legit software of Phenix motherboard from official Acer website to flash the BIOS and remove the CMOS check sum.
Before moving further- understand Some tech stuff- the BIOS password isn’t saved in Hard disk, so by formatting the Hard disk you can’t solve it. It gets saved in the CMOS battery (not the laptop battery). So most people generally pick out the battery and let it drain power for a few days and then put it back so password is gone from memory. But that’s a dangerous technique for laptop as it has small delicate parts unlike Desktop PC.

Now this technique of Flashing the BIOS (tested myself successfully on Acer 5101 laptop.- you can use similar principle for your other brand's laptop as well.)
1. Download the latest BIOS setup file from Acer website for your model. (doesn’t matter even if your laptop has the latest BIOS update because we only need it to flash again to remove the CMOS password.)
2. Extract it and launch Flash.exe launch it. (Warning- put your laptop on AC power. + close other application)
3. In the Winphlash Window – go to advanced setting. –Click on ‘Clear CMOS checksum’ > OK (see screenshot)


P.S. if you' already have installed the latest version update for you BIOS then untick the button so it flashes.

Then you’ll come back to main window-> click on Flash BIOS.
Wait for a few minutes while it does that work (it takes like 3-5 minutes) Restart your computer, press F2 and omg- it won’t ask for any BIOS Password from you ![U]

why am I writing this post?

Few years back I purchased an Acer Aspire 5101 laptop from a mall. Later on I found that it had BIOS password on it, and when I contacted the mall people- they said they don’t know it. (I doubt that they were using the laptop before they sold to me and someone had put BIOS password and later left the job, so the new salesman had no idea.) anyways, then I took the laptop to the Service center . although my laptop was still under warrenty, the serviceman asked for money to reset the BIOS password claiming the Acer company doesn’t put any passwords in brand new laptop so its my fault.

Since I couldn’t afford to pay money - I tried google to get solution, visited many forums- tried to use the factory passwords but they don’t work. There were many cracking softwares available but they warned about system damage. So in fear I did not try them, and used the laptop as it was for years.

But today I finally solved and I want to share it with the world. however i take no responsibility if you mess and damage your system using this trick -use it at your own risk.
i only wanted to share the knowledge. if you benefit from this, then do share it with others!

Shortcut to Outlook 2010 Template for saving time composing routine mails

You are in a job that requires you to send mails frequently, and you want to save time doing that work.

Using this method you can save yourself a lot time and energy (having to type the email ids, setting up fonts and titles everytime, moving-clicking your mouse here and there!)

This article is divided into 3 parts

1. How to create templates
2. Some fancy templates created by me for your use
3. Some readymade ASCII borders you can use for beautification
4. How to use Autohotkey to make keyboard shortcuts for launching specific templates.

HOW TO CREATE TEMPLATES IN OUTLOOK 2010

1. Compose New mail
2. Write down the template (the things that you need to insert in every mail like “Dear Sir, Yours Sincerely, CCs and BCCs”)
3. you can also write the id in the To field- and make multiple templates like this e.g. for Boss, subordinate, customer, wife, dad, brother, friend etc and save them under different names (explained in detail later.) Beautification :- ( You CAN copy paste fancy pictures, borders, background color,clipart, (USING INSERT TAB) - you can even copy paste images from webpages- it’ll preserve everything – explained in detail later on. Along with readymade fancy templates for your use.)

e.g.

YOU CAN change the background color by going into Format > Page Color tab.

5. Once you are done making your mail- Hit that Orange ribbon and save as Outlook Template on your desktop
6. Make sure you chose from the drop down menu “Save As type” Template

7. Save it somewhere handy like Desktop. Or save it anywhere and use Autohotkey Script to run it with keyboard shortcut. (explained in detail later on)
8. Now whenever you want to compose new mail, hit that template icon on your desktop = save a lot time!
9. Repeat the procedure for multiple templates for routine mails you’ve to send everyday like following (psst.. hit the insert tab to add fancy borders / clipart etc.)

Save this as template on desktop as Boss!

You can also make template for routine reports you’ve to send to your supervisor etc

Save this on Desktop as Supervisor template! (OR any other name you like)

You can make multiple templates like this for the routine mails (in that write the mail id in the ‘To-‘ Field.)

Now saving further time With Autohotkey.

i.e. you can press Windows key and ‘2’ key together and it launches the specific template.

This method is tremendously useful when you’ve multiple mail templates to work on like on for subordinates, other for customers and third for boss. You can have multiple key combos ! saves a lot time from hovering the mouse and double clicking here and there.

Download install Autohotkey from here (2 MB)

Now make a folder somewhere and save all your templates there.

Go in to that folder – right click -> new Autohotkey Script.

Give it some name like Template Launcher. Right click on it, Select ‘Edit Script’ OR open it with Notepad

Let assume you saved all your templates in D drive’s ‘Template’ Folder, then you can write some in that notepad like this and save. (the red font item only)

Run, D:\Template\Boss.oft

Return

#2::

Run, D:\Template\Buddy.oft

Return

Now understand some basic commands for Autohotkey.

# = win key

Run = launch something , the full location of the file / program is required. In case of outlook template its .oft extension.

Return = ends that hotkey’s work there.

Save your script, and launch it. (it’ll stay in the system tray and won’t do anything until you press those combo keys like Win1 and Win2 etc)

In above example, whenever you want to send new mail to your buddy, just press Win + 2 key combo and it’ll launch it.
